Artist Residency

Highlights from Arts University Bournemouth’s online Artist Residency with Butterfly for AUB’s online theatre festival.

Your students will become a part of Butterfly’s ensemble of professional actors and work with our team to create their very own live or online show, directed/produced by us and starring the students themselves.

We will work with the students through a rehearsal period of your chosen length. They will be taught The Gonsalves Method, actor training rooted in Meisner, they will follow the process that our professional Butterfly actors use when putting on a show and will work towards creating their very own unique production. However simple or extravagant you want your productions to be, we can cater to your needs and can guarantee to make it a memorable experience for all involved with a high quality performance at the end of it.

We recently followed this process with Arts University Bournemouth students and worked with them on their very own online version of the famous Shakespeare play titled “A MidZoomer Night’s Dream”.

DURATION: Negotiable

AGE GROUP: University and Drama School students

COST: Negotiable based on duration

You can either choose one of the shows from our series which comes with it’s own adapted script, or use a script of your own, either way we would love to discuss options with you. We also offer this for GCSE, A-Level and IB students either online or in-person.

“It was a fantastic production and so creative and innovative. I really enjoyed it and thought the students did so well. I saw some of your cast on campus today and they are just buzzing from the experience and were saying how much they loved working with you all at Butterfly.”

— Katharine Piercey, Course Leader, BA (Hons) Acting, Arts University Bournemouth

“The experience I had working on A MidZoomer Night’s Dream was such a joy and I feel like using The Gonsalves Method genuinely changed my approach to acting. Learning how to keep my attention on other actors in the scene with me, and respond instinctively, helped me to let go of self-consciousness and nerves; I was no longer in my own head panicking whilst performing!”
