Monday Night Class

When you are acting, you know when you are being false - your body feels it, your heart feels it - but people are unlikely to tell you the truth. At Monday Night Class, we will.

“*uck polite” “let it matter” “speak with how you feel” are just some of the things Aileen has instilled in me that have seen me through in the arts and in life.”

— Yasen Atour, Actor, The State, Ben-Hur, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, and Marcella

“You are unique.” As soon as I saw Aileen standing in front of me saying these words at my Drama School audition I knew where I wanted to train. She is an inspiring teacher and director: passionate, engaged and deeply caring. The lessons I learned from her I take into the vocal booth with me all the time.”

— Esther Wane, Voice Over Actor, Malory Towers

Awaken your passion. Release your power.

Ever wanted to learn about the Meisner Acting Technique and how to use his famous exercises to better yourself as a performer?

Are you intrigued to learn more about The Gonsalves Method and how you can use it to put Meisner’s Techniques into practice when working on text in rehearsals, for performances and auditions, in a practical and methodical way?

Do you want to enhance your creative process by learning new skills and techniques?

Or perhaps you are already familiar with Meisner’s work, you know how to ‘live truthfully’ and just want the opportunity to exercise those “Meisner Muscles” with some regular Repetition.

Well why not join us for Monday Night Class!

You’ll learn how to apply the 5 Conditions and ‘given circumstances’ to different characters and texts. Through this you will be able to expand your range of tactics, pushing you to risk bolder choices, make new discoveries, and have fun with other like-minded people in a safe, trusting community.

These drop-in sessions have been designed to give newcomers a taste of working in this unique way, as well as giving those who already have experience, the opportunity to practice their craft and improve their ability to see clearly and respond truthfully.

Beginners and more experienced actors will work separately to ensure a meaningful, productive class for all.

As the actor, only you can help your audience feel something real, by feeling something real yourself in response to your fellow actors. It’s time to open the hearts of your audiences by being an authentically alive performer.

Still unsure about whether this way of working is for you? Well ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you find yourself rehearsing your lines on your own without actually speaking to someone or having anything to “respond to”?

  • Do you find yourself pretending to listen within a scene?

  • Do you find yourself deciding how you’re going to feel in a given scene beforehand?

And are you getting away with it?

If any of these questions resonate with you, then this way of working can help you to:

  • Be a more honest actor and be more connected to the other actors and the audience.

  • Be a responsive, moment to moment performer and give a truly alive and authentic performance even under the strictest direction.

  • Work with any play, in any company keeping your integrity, while still giving the director what they want.

Stop getting away with those “bad habits” and strive to be the most truthful, authentic and responsive actor you can be!
